A Bicycle Trip to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
July 2003

We get the answer when we're back at Cavendish on Main Beach. Here are the carparks, the tourist buses, the fastfood places, and a stream of people waiting patiently to cross a footbridge to the beach, where the lifeguards are in place. We eat an expensive, but not very good sandwich and leave the crowds and turn southwest towards Stanley Bridge. It's a very hot day, and the road is quite hilly, so we stop twice to drink iced tea, once at New London near the birthplace of L.M. Montgomery of Green Gables fame, at a charming little teahouse with a Japanese proprietor. Finally we reach Kensington, a beautiful small town where we decide to spend the night at the first available B&B, where we're lucky to get a lovely room in a very nice house. One of the attractions of the town is the Kensington Water Gardens with various watery delights and model English castles as well.
