Knightstown to Waterville.

Next morning we woke up to the sun shining and a very good weather report. Alas, it did not come true. After a few kilometres, it started to drizzle, and soon it developed into a steady rain and driving wind (not at our backs!) which didn't let up until late afternoon. It was hard going, and all the views from the Western point of the island were shrouded in mist and rain. We took the bridge to the mainland at Portmagee, and made it to Waterville where we called it a day. We found a room at one of the older houses in town, not very nice, but quite cheap (12,50 pounds). A stroll around town showed it to be rather tourist-minded, every second house being a B&B place, and some of them painted in garish yellow and purple colours. We had a very good dinner, though, at the Sheilin Seafood Restaurant. A three-course tourist dinner at 12.95 pounds amply made up for having skipped lunch in all the rain.
