We arrive in Oban at 3:39 and contact the Tourist Office first thing to get accomodation in Oban and on our first day in Barra in the Western Isles.  There’s a bit of a hassle before we find the right place, as apparently there are two roads with the same name in Oban, and the Tourist Office has not caught on to it yet.
Dinner at a very nice fish restaurant on the harbourside. After dinner a stroll along the harbour promenade, and time for a water-colour of the last glow on the environs of Oban. In the background a continous accompaniment of bagpipe music - must go and see who is playing. It is the "Oban Pipe Band", around 12 earnest young men and women in kilts, drums and bagpipes, and three small girls, also in kilts, doing various Highland dances - a sword dance among others which you would think was reserved for grown men capable of handling the swords.
