Sunday 16 July 2000

Our train for Glasgow leaves at one o'clock, so in the morning, we ride out along the Caledonian Canal, almost to Loch Ness where it ends, but not quite, there’s not time.
The train is fairly full in spite of the high cost (£59 for 2 persons Inverness to Glasgow), and this time there’s no trouble with the bikes. A long, hot ride (the windows don’t open) and at the end, we’re in the middle of Glasgow, a very big city seen with Danish eyes. Again, we go to the Tourist Office to find accomodation, it’s simply too confusing to find the right place on our own. A quick phone call, and we’re booked into a Holiday Inn Express Hotel (a cheaper version of the Holiday Inn) in the town centre close to the river. It’s a very nice hotel, and certainly a good room with bath for the price (£59 for both with continental breakfast, also good).
