Sheep on a meadow on the way to Harlech, Wales                                                                      © Watercolour by Ole Jacobi, July 1997

After Port Meirion we struck inland to find a less busy parallel road to the coast road leading to Harlech. After a while, the castle became visible in the distance, and we reached it around 4. A turn around the castle showed the same kind of construction as the other 4 we've already seen, just as imposing, set in a marvellous position on a rock high above the sea. Some preparations were going on for a performance of the local medieval society that evening which we skipped - it seemed to be all fighting with swords and arrows, and a lot of shouting was heard later on.
