Caernarfon Bay
Summer evening, Caernarfon Bay and Gym Ddu                                                                          © Watercolour by Ole Jacobi, July 1997

On the way we found a nice farmhouse for the night where we deposited our bags and went on towards Caernarvon Castle. As we were approaching the walls of the castle, it turned out that the bridge that connected the coast road with the environs of the castle was out of use. So we had to make a long detour and approach the town along the main road. It was worth all the trouble, though. The castle was magnificent, and the town had a very special feeling to it compounded of old stone houses and walls, quiet streets (perhaps because it was after 6) and crying seagulls. On the way back to our farmhouse B&B along the coast road, it was a most wonderful evening- very clear, very quiet, only the birds, of which there were many interesting ones, to be heard.
