From Denmark to Washington DC, USA

After our successful trip to California in February with our Brompton folding bikes, we are bringing them with us this time to Washington DC. They are packed in two special Brompton carriers and apart from that we are bringing one suitcase which has to be paid for, as cheap air travel tickets only allow each passenger to bring one piece of luggage weighing max. 23 kgs. We are flying Lufthansa and stopping over in Frankfurt before continuing to Dulles International Airport in Washington. Coming over in October, we are hoping to see some Indian Summer weather, and also to visit old friends who live in Alexandria outside Washington. The flight itself is quite comfortable, but arriving in Washington, we have to stand in line for over 2 hours to have our passports checked. Finally getting through and being released into the arrivals hall, we are met by our old friend who has also been waiting for 2 hours to fetch us. The drive to Alexandria takes another hour, so we have an early night.
