From Rostock to Graal-Müritz

Sunday 12 July
Today the weather is perfect with a light breeze which goes in the direction we want to go. We head out of Rostock aiming for the Baltic coast road to the East, and on the advice of people we pass, we are lucky enough to find a bicycle path that takes us first through a lovely wood, and then on to a path that follows the dyke all the way along the coast. This path is very well maintained most of the way, and it is crossed with periodic access paths to the beach with many seats to rest on and tables of information. We meet an incredible number of bicycles, people of all ages from children to old ladies, but obviously only out for the day. I think it's because they have made the beach fairly inaccessible to cars, so people put their bikes on the roof of the car, drive as closely as they can get to the beach and then cycle the rest of the way.
