After a lovely breakfast and some interesting talk about PEI, where Brenda comes from, we cycle to the ferry harbour just north of Pictou, where a quite big ferry takes us to PEI in just over an hour. We cross the Northumberland Strait, where flocks of seals are playing in the water as we pass. We arrive at a small place on the coast of PEI, Wood Island, where the Tourist Office helps us to find our next B&B, "Away From It All Lodge" which is a small farm deep in the woods at Iris about 10 km from the coast. We pass hardly any houses on the way there, so it's really "away from it all" which also means that to get a meal, we have to cycle a good way to Murray River, a riverside village which we reach after travelling through the woods on the red clay roads so typical of PEI. The food there is noting to write home about, but there are some nice shops to look at. Back at the Lodge, there's coffee and more interesting talk about PEI in particular and Canada in general.
